PhD Scholarships Available
Full PhD scholarships are available in the area of image recognition, 3D reconstruction from images, medical imaging, digital heritage applications of vision, or machine learning (including deep networks) in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Otago in New Zealand. We have a small but vibrant group of researchers in the area of computer vision and artificial intelligence. Scholarships are not tied to a particular project but are granted to a student. Students with an interest in any of the above areas are encouraged to apply.
NZ$25,000 stipend per annum plus tuition fees waiver for 3 years.
About University of Otago
The University of Otago is the oldest university in New Zealand, is considered to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the world, and is consistently ranked in the top 300 universities in the world by several ranking lists. The University is sited in the beautiful university coastal town of Dunedin. Dunedin is home to excellent surf, great wildlife (penguins, seals, sealions, albatross), and is within a few hours drive of the best skiing in the country in the resort towns of Queenstown and Wanaka. New Zealand is also host to spectacular scenery and offers fantastic outdoor opportunities such as hiking and mountain climbing, as well as many cultural opportunities.
The application procedure is a two step process. For the first step, please send a project proposal (less than one page), a brief CV (less than two pages), your academic transcripts (listing all courses taken and grades received), and copies of any publications to: email@example.com.
- A 4 year Honours degree or research Masters degree in Computer Science or closely related field (e.g. Mathematics with extensive programming experience)
- grades equivalent to a US grade average of A or better
- evidence of research ability through reputable publications (such as IEEE or ACM conferences and journals) or prior thesis research at Masters level.
