Description: National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to undertake algorithm research and software development for bioimaging data analysis. The starting salary is about $58,000/year. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated individual who has the ability and desire to pursue solutions to challenging, interdisciplinary problems in a fast-paced research environment. Only applicants who meet the following requirements will be considered for the position:
1)A Ph.D. degree in computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, computational chemistry, biostatistics, or a closely related field within 5 years;
2)U.S. citizenship or permanent resident or H-1 holder willing to convert to J-1 status or foreign applicant (through J1 visa).
3)Proficiency with MATLAB and knowledge in image analysis and machine learning;
4)Proficiency with at least one programming language (Perl, Python, C, C++, Java, etc.) and experience in software development, database design and development;
5)Excellent oral and written communication skills;
6)Good judgment, clear sense of purpose, and accountability.
Preferred, but not required, skills include:
1)Some experience with web application;
2)Some experience with high performance computing and parallel computing;
3)Experience with SAS, R, or other statistical analysis programs.
