Description: On June 23rd, a public call for grants will be open. The VARP group is looking for PhD candidates interested in this program and also interested in doing her or his PhD thesis with this research group. Candidates have to be enrolled in a doctorate program or at least need to be admitted in one by June 23rd. They also need to be willing to move to Leon for working in their PhD thesis.
The VARP group will select the best candidates among all the applications in order to apply together (research group plus candidate) to this call.

ATTENTION: Very brilliant students ready to enroll in a doctorate program on September will also be considered. This other position is funded by a research project and has a duration of one and a half years, with options for additional two years extension.

About VARP group
The Artificial Vision and Pattern Recognition group (VARP: http://pitia.unileon.es/VARP) is a research group settled at the University of Leon. They have been working since more than 15 years ago in applying Computer Vision and Machine Learning techniques to industrial and scientific problems. In 2011 they started collaborating with INCIBE when they participated in the European project ASASEC (http://asasec.eu). After this project ended, they have extended their links by signing a research project focused in applying computer vision and machine learning methods to Cybersecurity.
The VARP group is now recruiting young PhD candidates interested in Computer Vision and Machine Learning applied to problems related with Cybersecurity.
INCIBE is an organization dependent on the Spanish Ministry for Industry, Energy and Tourism. As a center of excellence, INCIBE works towards the development of Cybersecurity as an instrument for social transformation and for developing new fields of innovation. To this end, with its activities focused on research, the provision of services, and cooperation with the relevant actors, INCIBE heads a range of initiatives directed at Cybersecurity at both a national and an international level.
