Description: Our team is delivering sight-restoring stem cells to damaged retinas.
The goal of this specific position is to develop image guidance algorithms for manual and robotic ophthalmic surgery. We want to to use the developed algorithms in the operating theatre to guide the placement of the stem cells.
The PDRA will be involved in the design and development of real-time non-rigid registration algorithms for OCT images to visualise subcutaneous information through augmented reality.
The post holder will be employed by the Institute of Ophthalmology, and will closely collaborate with the Translational Imaging Group (TIG) of the Centre for Medical Image Computing, UCL, having access to TIGs software frameworks and computational resources.
The successful candidate should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related subject and be able to demonstrate good mathematical, algorithmic and software development skills. They should also demonstrate experience in Medical Image Processing, C/C++ programming and/or python. Knowledge and experience in high-performance computing platforms, such as CUDA and OpenCL is highly advantageous. Prior experience in ophthalmology is advantageous but not required.
