Description: The Information Processing in Medical Interventions Group at the Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomechanics, University of Bern is looking for a highly motivated PhD student to develop cutting edge machine learning and medical image analysis algorithms for musculoskeletal imaging, with a focus on development automatic segmentation and computer aided diagnosis methods. The position is available from October 1st, 2017. The PhD student will be part of a team consisting of a PostDoc, the principal investigator (PI) and four other PhD students. Required skills/experiences include: (A) Mater degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related fields with knowledge and experience in medical image analysis, machine learning (deep learning) or computer vision algorithm development and implementation; (B) Strong publication record in major conferences/journals such as MICCAI, IPMI, ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, PAMI, IJCV, MedIA, TMI, etc.; and (C) Excellent programming skills in C++ and Matlab.
